D. C. Taylor Co. Conducts 2023 Winter Training
D. C. Taylor Co. welcomed 60 field personnel for two training sessions in January and February. The annual winter training tradition helps keep skills sharp, and safety at the forefront and facilitates collaboration and communication. It’s a chance to bring office and field labor together.
Training sessions took place from January 17-20 in Cedar Rapids, IA, for crews that work out of the Iowa headquarters and Barrington, IL, offices. Field personnel from the company’s Peoria, AZ, and Concord, CA, locations participated in training from February 6-10 in the California office.
Training encompassed hands-on exercises as well as classroom instruction, and addressed the following topics:
- Competent Person in Fall Protection Training
- Competent Person Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Inspections
- Hazard Identification
- Leadership and Anti-Harassment Training
- RTFL, MEWP, Rigging, and Signalperson
- Driver Log Requirements
- Time and Productivity Tracking
The sessions also allowed time to communicate 2023 company objectives, which include crew training and development, as well as recruitment and retention priorities. Winter training provided the opportunity to celebrate the achievement of zero recordable safety incidents in 2022 as well. “All of this training helps to emphasize that safety is at the forefront of our daily business,” says Kirk Dighton, Safety Manager, D. The training was conducted by Dighton, along with D. C. Taylor Co. President Brent Taylor, and (for California and Arizona team members) by Raymundo Jimenez, Construction Manager, D. C. Taylor Co., Concord, CA.
