TD Ameritrade Roof Recognized Among Inaugural RoofPoint™ Project
D. C. Taylor Co. is proud to announce that its roofing project at the new TD Ameritrade Holding Corporation (NYSE: AMTD) headquarters, operations and technology center in Omaha, NE, has been recognized among the first RoofPoint™ Registered Projects. D. C. Taylor Co. was among the 22 organizations that submitted more than 100 projects during the RoofPoint pilot program. This is the national roofing contractor’s second RoofPoint Registered Project.
RoofPoint is a voluntary, consensus-based green rating system developed by the Center to provide a means for roofing contractors, building owners, and designers to select roof systems based on long-term energy and environmental benefits. RoofPoint Registered Projects demonstrate roofing excellence in several key categories, including energy, materials, water, life cycle, and durability management.
“RoofPoint Registered Projects represent the unique contribution the roofing industry is making to sustainable construction and showcase the critical role roofs play in mitigating the impact buildings have on our environment,” said Center President Craig Silvertooth.
The 127,600-square foot TD Ameritrade roof employed numerous sustainable roofing features, including rainwater harvesting; solar thermal water heating; vegetative roofing; and a high R-value, high reflectivity, low emissivity roof system. Additionally, construction waste was diverted from the landfill during the project.
“Sustainability and green design has been a key consideration for us in the construction of our new office tower – a building that we believe will be certified as one of the most energy efficient in the country,” said TD Ameritrade Chief Human Resources Officer Karen Ganzlin. “We are pleased to see elements of that commitment, like our roof, recognized for environmentally friendly design.”
