Introducing Suntan King, Project Supervisor

June 8, 2017

D. C. Taylor Co. is a family-run business. We’re not just talking about the Taylor family, either. Suntan King followed his father Oldric King into the business 39 years ago. For nearly four decades, he’s provided not only roofing services to D. C. Taylor Co. customers, but also guided, mentored, and trained the crews he worked alongside. In 2004, the Roofing Industry Alliance for Progress awarded Suntan with a Most Valuable Player award. He’s one of the company’s finest.

Name: Suntan King

Nickname: Sunshine

Roofing project you’re most proud of: Carver Hawkeye Arena, Iowa City, IA

When I’m not roofing, I’m restoring my boat and fishing.

My favorite food is Italian.

If I was a superhero, I’d be MacGyver.

What’s the strangest thing you’ve seen while roofing? The explosion of a space shuttle 4 miles away from my jobsite.

Throughout 2017, D. C. Taylor Co. will be sharing a blog profile of one project supervisor each month. We think our people are our most valuable asset. After you meet them, we think you’ll understand why.
