D. C. Taylor Co. Wins 2012 RoofPoint™ Excellence in Design Award
Cedar Rapids, IA (February 27, 2013) – D. C. Taylor Co. is pleased to announce that its project at TD Ameritrade Holding Corporation’s (NYSE: AMTD) new Omaha (NE) Campus office tower, was recognized as the winner of the 2012 RoofPoint™ Excellence in Design Award for Private Sector Leadership.
RoofPoint is a voluntary, consensus-based green rating system developed by the Center for Environmental Innovation in Roofing to provide a means for building owners and designers to select nonresidential roof systems based on long-term energy and environmental benefits. RoofPoint serves as a simple, transparent, and professional measure to validate that new and replacement roof system are designed, installed, and maintained in accordance with the best sustainable practices available today.
The 2012 RoofPoint Excellence in Design Award recognizes the best in design and installation of long-lasting, energy efficient, environmentally friendly roof systems. Annual award winners are selected from projects that best exemplify the mission and meet the criteria of RoofPoint.
The 127,600-square-foot TD Ameritrade roof includes multiple areas and deployed a variety of sustainable strategies such as solar thermal water heating. A high R-value roofing system was installed throughout to maximize energy efficiency. Solar panels were mounted on the tower roof, while the pavilion includes water harvesting, vegetated growing medium, and a permanent fall protection system. During the execution of the project, half of the on-site waste generated was recycled.
This is the second time one of D. C. Taylor Co.’s projects has been recognized by the Center. “Winning this award demonstrates D. C.
