Brent Taylor’s Presentation Provides a Real-Life Example of Sustainable Roofing
Cedar Rapids, IA (September 27, 2012) – D. C. Taylor Co. participated as a speaker in FMA Congresses Inc.’s 13th Progressive Energy & Environment Congress in Chicago, IL, on Sept. 5-7, 2012. Three representatives from the national roofing contractor provided information to the environmental compliance officers, corporate directors and vice presidents of sustainability, environmental specialists, and facilities professionals in attendance.
Brent Taylor, Director of Service Product Development, D. C. Taylor Co., presented to attendees on the sustainable roofing project executed at Meridian Vineyards, Paso Robles, CA, in 2011. Environmental strategies that were applied included:
- Solar panels generating 1.25 MW
- Material re-use and construction waste diversion.
- Stormwater runoff and retention.
- Permanent fall protection.
- Restoration of a 20-plus year old metal roof.
- An ongoing roof maintenance program.
The case study demonstrated a wide range of sustainable strategies and use of The Center for Environmental Innovation in Roofing’s RoofPoint™ program, which awarded the project a 2011 RoofPoint Excellence in Design Award.
