D. C. Taylor Co. President Helps Raise Money for Type 1 Diabetes Research
Brent Taylor, President, D. C. Taylor Co., Cedar Rapids, IA, was proud to serve as the 2019 One Walk Corporate Chair for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) Eastern Iowa Chapter. Brent’s oldest son has three friends living with Type 1 diabetes (T1D). He has seen firsthand how committed they (and their families) are to managing this disease without letting it stop them from living.
In 2017, there were 1.25 million Americans with T1D. That number is predicted to grow to as much as 5 million by 2050. JRDF is funding critical research to find a cure and empowering a growing community of adults and children living with T1D like Todd, Harry, and Auggie – the friends of Brent’s son.
The One Walk event took place on May 11, but Brent’s efforts to raise money for T1D research began months earlier. He encouraged employees, friends, and business associates to join the D. C. Taylor Co. team, make a contribution to the event, and raise money for a cure to T1D. Through his efforts, $10,930 was raised, helping the JDRF Eastern Iowa One Walk top out at a grand total of more than $434,000 in donations.
“When asked to Chair the 2019 One Walk, and when evaluating JDRF’s purpose, I couldn’t help but think about Grant’s friends, their approach to life, the support JRDF provides and the progress they have made, and the inevitable likelihood that we will find a cure someday. I was honored to have the opportunity to not only Chair the Eastern Iowa JDRF One Walk, but to help make our best friends’ lives better,” says Brent.
