D. C. Taylor Co. Celebrates 75th Anniversary With Open House
D. C. Taylor Co. is excited to celebrate 75 years in business with an open house on Friday, Oct. 11, 2024, from 2 to 6 p.m. in its Cedar Rapids office at 500 Stickle Drive NE. The public is invited to help the commercial and industrial roofing contractor commemorate its impressive history and continued success. President Brent Taylor, the third generation from the Taylor family to run the business, will give a brief speech at 3 p.m. Attendees can enjoy a self-guided walking tour of the office, a video about the history of D. C. Taylor Co., and light snacks and refreshments.
“Our company history is an incredible evolution. The strong foundation laid by my grandfather is the bedrock on which we stand today, as we continue to improve, grow, and realize even greater success in the future,” says Taylor. Highlights from the company’s 75 years in business include:
- In 1964, D. C. Taylor Co. was awarded the $105,000 contract to tuckpoint the Washington Monument, thanks in large part to Dudley C. Taylor’s innovative plan for scaffolding.
- In the four years between 1974 and 1978, the company installed more than 600 single-ply roofs. D. C. Taylor Co. was well on its way to becoming the largest single-ply roofing contractor in the United States in the 1980s.
- In 2006, D. C. Taylor Co. began assisting customers with the installation of permanent fall protection, a service that addresses stricter safety standards and customers’ increased desire to provide safe environments for their employees and rooftop workers.
- In 2022, D. C. Taylor Co. completed 71 reroofing or new construction projects and 594 service projects (107,640 hours) with zero safety incidents.
- In 2024, D. C. Taylor Co. was named one of America’s Safest Companies by EHS Today. D. C. Taylor Co. also completed the largest and longest project in company history (a 1,558,200 sq. ft. project with more than 40 roof areas in Mt. Sterling, IL, taking 80 crew members 22 months to finish).
