D. C. Taylor Co. Trains 70+ Leaders at 2018 Winter Training
Shortly after the new year, D. C. Taylor Co. held two training events for its project supervisors and lead men. Training occurred in Cedar Rapids, IA, at the company headquarters on Jan. 3-5 and continued the following week on Jan. 8-9. In attendance were employees from the Cedar Rapids, IA, and Chicago field offices. A later training for the California and Phoenix field office employees was held Feb. 5-9, in the company’s Concord, CA, office.
“The training was invaluable,” says Brent Taylor, President, D. C. Taylor Co., Cedar Rapids, IA. “Among the many topics we covered was fall rescue. Our crew members rehearsed how to save a team member’s life thanks to the training and equipment.” A significant portion of the winter training sessions were devoted to safety topics, including the job hazard analysis (JHA) and job-specific fall protection plans. Training and certification was offered on the following:
- Aerial work platform (AWP).
- Competent person in fall protection.
- CPR.
- First-aid.
- Blood-borne pathogens.
- Signalperson and rigging.
Other sessions focused on leadership and professional development, improvements to existing processes and documents, and updates from the human resources and information technology departments. “We are very proud that this training event has become an annual tradition,” adds Taylor. “Our team members are our greatest asset.
