D. C. Taylor Co. Welcomes More than 75 Team Members During 2026 Winter Training
More than 75 field professionals from across D. C. Taylor Co. gathered for the company’s annual Winter Training, participating in two multi-day sessions hosted by its Iowa (Jan. 5-9, 2026) and California (Feb. 9-13, 2026) offices. The comprehensive training events brought together team members from its four offices (Cedar Rapids, IA; Barrington, IL; Peoria, AZ; and Concord, CA), reinforcing the company’s commitment to safety, operational excellence, and employee development.
Designed to strengthen both technical expertise and company alignment, the annual training covered a broad range of company-specific processes and industry best practices. Participants engaged in sessions addressing the state of the business, sales planning, project kick-off and closeout procedures, debriefs, and project progress communications. Additional internal topics included a safety year in review, Human Resources updates, ADP utilization, project manual reviews, digital learning labs, project photograph standards, and details about the company’s wellness program.
In addition to operational updates, attendees completed extensive skills and safety training. Courses included materials utilization and hazardous waste minimization, signaling and rigging, job hazard analysis and job start authorization, safe roof audits, lock out-tag out procedures, truck inspections, and competent person training with both classroom and hands-on components.
An in-depth inspections workshop covered rough terrain forklifts, mobile elevated work platforms, personal fall arrest systems, ladders, first aid equipment, fire extinguishers, and rescue equipment. Field personnel also received CPR, first aid, AED, bloodborne pathogen, and fire extinguisher training, as well as instruction from specific roof system manufacturers to ensure proper installation and inspection standards.
A highlight of the event was leadership training led by ADP’s Richard Pelay, centered on The 5 Practices of Exemplary Leadership: model the way, inspire a shared vision, challenge the process, enable others, and encourage the heart.
The Iowa Winter Training session featured a special presentation from representatives of the Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals, & Licensing OSHA Consultation & Education Voluntary Protection Program. The company’s headquarters was formally recognized as Iowa’s first and only STAR mobile worksite – a significant achievement reflecting the company’s dedication to workplace safety and regulatory excellence.
To foster camaraderie and teamwork, the sessions included an interactive icebreaker exercise designed to build empathy and strengthen communication among crew members. The events successfully created a collaborative environment where employees from all four offices could connect, share experiences, and align on best practices.
