When it’s determined that an existing roof system must be torn off, a reroof project is performed. Reroofing involves removing and disposing of the existing roof system components, sometimes down to the structural deck. One or many layers of roof insulation, sometimes including a combination of rigid roof insulation and high-density gypsum board, are installed using fasteners or adhesive. Once this is in place, the new roof membrane is fastened, adhered, or ballasted over the new insulation. A traditional roof manufacturer warranty ranges from 10 to 30 years.
