Installation of solar collectors meets strict time constraints set by winery's crush season.
Meridian Vineyard's management had committed to a 1.25 MW solar generation project, but would not allow construction to interfere with winemaking operations. With an approaching crush (harvest) season, Meridian Vineyards needed the performance of a finely tuned team to plan, coordinate, and supervise the construction project.

D. C. Taylor Co. completed the reroofing project and installation of sensitive solar collectors in less than 3 months. When developing the project plan,

Project details.
Existing 20+ year old metal roofs (approx. 160,500 sq. ft.) were restored with a high performance elastomeric coating. Meridian Vineyards selected a 25-Year Elastomeric Coating System applied over an existing metal roof. It included a 25-year manufacturer warranty provided by United Coatings.
Over 5,000 roof-mounted solar panels installed. Provides 40% of facility electricity. Offsets over 2.7 million pounds of CO2 annually.
Permanent fall protection system and skylight screens installed to ensure safety of personnel performing maintenance and solar cleaning activities.
Comprehensive waste management program kept total construction and demolition waste for the project to less than 15%.
Project management processes delivered project on time and below budget cost. Solar system was operational ahead of schedule and installation did not interfere with the company's winemaking season. Through the coordination efforts of all teams involved, D. C. Taylor Co. completed the project safely, on-time, and within budget.
Putting safety first.
Brad Richardson, CSP and Corporate Director of Environmental Health and Safety at D. C. Taylor Co. visited Project Manager Naum Zelaya and crew at Meridian Vineyards during this project. Brad reported, "The Concord production crew leaders and crew members are doing an excellent job in all aspects of roofing safety and have shown what is possible with first class Project Management, on-going safety training, and attention to detail. Along with the safety process they've been trained to employ, they're also doing the little things right."
