SUMMARY STATEMENT:

The foreman has supervisory responsibility for the crew assigned and managerial responsibility for the projects completed by the crew. As a supervisor, the foreman must ensure the crew is completing the project per the specification and within the budget. Customer satisfaction is among the highest priorities and is achieved through the safe delivery of a quality roof, good communications, and being invisible. A key role for the foreman is the development of crew members as world class roofers. The management of projects requires the foreman to participate in project planning, scheduling, executions and closeout. The foreman takes charge of the project once mobilized to make sure it is completed on time and on budget, to the satisfaction of the building owner.

REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Roofing systems field experience, formal education, or a combination of these.
  • Knowledge of project and personnel administration, and able to read and understand written scopes of work and shop drawings.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements, International Building Code and Factory Mutual requirements, manufacturer's specifications, and other job-related responsibilities.
  • Good reading, writing, and verbal communication skills. Able to communicate at all levels in the D. C. Taylor Co. and client organizations.
  • Able to supervise personnel while managing the outcome of their efforts.
  • Able to prioritize events leading to project completion, and determine what must be done to achieve the best possible outcome for the company, client, and team.
  • Able to meet physical demands required of this job.

SCHEDULE:

Roofing projects can be performed any hour of the day, any day of the week. Foremen are expected to be on the roof whenever their crew is on a job site working. Crews typically work 8- to 12-hour shift, 5 or 6 days a week. Crews work weekends to make up for rain days or by direction of the client. Holiday work is mandatory only when directed by the client. May require extensive travel.
