Structural roof access plan.
Why install permanent safety equipment and fall protection on your roof?
Every time someone works on your roof, whether it’s one of your
employees or an outside contractor, you can be assured that the appropriate
safety and fall protection systems are in place. You don’t have
to install and pay for new safety measures every time someone inspects,
maintains or works on your roof. It also reduces the chance for accidents
and damage claims against your company. |

Steps for establishing a permanent structural roof
access plan.
- Hazard assessment. We assess your
roof to identify hazards associated with employees and contractors accessing
your roof. Your roof is evaluated for fall prevention systems, including
guardrails, toeboards, barricades, parapet walls, hoistways, safety
gates and controlled access zones, including perimeter control lines
and warning signage. Personal fall arrest systems, as well as your general
maintenance requirements, are analyzed for work station positioning
using mono-point anchors, retractable lifelines, positioning and PFAS
harnesses and vertical or horizontal lifelines. Fixed- and portable-ladder
vertical access, horizontal catwalks, ramps and stairs are also considered.
- Fall safety engineering. We contract
with safety engineering firms to perform hazard analysis surveys and
prepare plans, specifications, details and drawings for structural fall
protection and roof access plans. We work with an engineer and facility
manager to establish needs for your building so a fall protection and
access plan can be developed complete with construction drawings. Upon
completion, we provide stamped, as-built drawings.
- Installation. Safety equipment is
installed to adhere to the engineering specifications.
- Training. We train you and your employees
on the use and maintenance of your permanent safety systems so a competent
person can access the roof.
